Versatile Gatekeepers from Techson - Meet Techson's new license plate recognition cameras with Wiegand output!

The Techson brand has added another impressive product to its range of number plate recognition cameras. The new 4 megapixel number plate recognition cameras are a big improvement on the 2-megapixel cameras previously available in the range. The new cameras are named TCIPS2C104IH100ADMTZ4/LR/WG and TCIPS2C104IH70ADMZ4/LR/WG and represent a whole new level of license plate recognition. Also introduced is the TCIPS1C102IH100ADMTZ3/LR/WG, a new version of the former 2-megapixel Techson license plate recognition camera.

Keen Techson users may have spotted the unused /WG symbol in the product name. This addition has been made to all three cameras because they now have a Wiegand output, opening up new horizons in number plate recognition.

Which model should I choose?

At first glance, the article number might lead you to confuse the two new PS2 cameras, but when you look at them in more detail, there are some significant differences. The TCIPS2C104IH100ADMTZ4/LR/WG has a motorised telephoto zoom lens with a focal length of 8-32mm. This extremely powerful zoom feature allows high-resolution observation and identification of distant objects and license plates.

If you want to recognise number plates from a greater distance, such as a fast-moving car on a main road, this is the camera to choose. It is an excellent way to monitor vehicles that are not passing directly under the camera.

The other version, the TCIPS2C104IH70ADMZ4/LR/WG, is a motorised zoom camera with a smooth varifocal lens with a focal length of 2.8-12 mm, offering a different range with the possibility of 4x optical zoom. This version is primarily for use in locations where the camera would be brought closer to the number plates to be recognised. This makes it an excellent choice for placement above barrier gates.

Both cameras provide extremely sharp images and are able to recognise number plates quickly and accurately. Choosing the right camera is a matter of deciding exactly where the devices will be mounted.

Beyond number plate recognition - The benefits of a built-in database

For those of you who might be new to license plate recognition, let's pause for a moment to think about what the /LR (License Plate Recognition) note in the Techson camera name means.

In addition to being able to recognise number plates, the number plate recognition cameras also have one unique built-in number plate database, which allows the cameras to operate independently. Thanks to this feature, the cameras are able to instantly identify and check license plates against their own database. This can be particularly useful in situations where immediate admission or access is required, such as in car parks or access control systems.

The number plate recognition cameras can also be integrated with a speed camera to form a fully independent system. Techson number plate recognition cameras have a separate relay output so they can be easily connected to the speed cameras, saving considerable time and effort in wiring.

With Techson, even the implementation of a complex access control system is no challenge!

In addition to their own relay output, the new number plate recognition cameras now also have a /WG, or Wiegand output. For those considering larger access control systems, this new option is definitely useful. During number plate recognition, the camera is able to signal to the access system that the following number plate has entered or left the area. This camera function has been successfully tested and integrated into the Otic control system. The camera was able to transmit the number of parking cards previously assigned to the license plates in its database to the OTIC controller in 8h10d encoding.

From now on, it's up to us to decide how and what to do with the Wiegand information sent by the camera.

Central control and versatile connectivity

Techson's new number plate recognition cameras are of course compatible with Techson recorders (tested with an IP recorder with TCR I41 S08-XF 1.4.7 FW), which allow the cameras' recordings and number plate databases to be managed from a single location. This central control allows users to manage the number plate recognition system simply and efficiently and to navigate easily between the stored data.

It's important to note that the new cameras can also be connected to Techson SmartCenter Standard software, which gives us the ability to manage an extensive number plate recognition database. This allows users to centrally manage and check the number plate database and incoming vehicles from their computer. The SmartCenter software has an intuitive user interface and conveniently aggregates license plate data from different cameras and systems. It is also worth mentioning that SmartCenter Standard is a server-client based software, so you can connect to your system from several different computers (clients), without the need to work on a dedicated computer.

Number plate recognition on your own device? With us it's possible!

While we're on the subject of number plate recognition, it's worth mentioning that with Techson you can not only read number plates with the help of number plate recognition cameras, but you can also "smart" the cameras. All you need is a PC and the Techson LPR software. With the help of this software, we can recognize license plates from any IP camera stream. The software also has its own database, so you can even open turnstiles or perform other linked operations.

Why choose Techson cameras?

If it's important to you:

  • Great image quality;
  • Reliable operation;
  • Creating a complex car access system;
  • Or detecting license plates from a distance.

For shorter distances, the TCIPS2C104IH70ADMZ4/LR/WG model is the ideal choice, while for longer distances, the TCIPS2C104IH100ADMTZ4/LR/WG model is the ideal choice. We recommend the new Techson LPR cameras for you if you want to integrate license plate recognition into your access control system using Wiegand.
