Techson's new number plate recognition camera meets all your needs and shows that it's possible to add new features and performance! In this article we present the key features of the camera. Click to find out more!
Compared to its predecessor, the Techson TCI PS3 C104 IH100 ADM TZ4/LR/WG number plate recognition camera has not changed externally. Browsing through the main specifications, nothing unusual stands out: 4-megapixel resolution, motorized zoom, true WDR, built-in 256 GB micro-SD card slot, IP67 protection. The difference only becomes apparent after a closer examination of the detailed specifications and when navigating through the camera’s own menu.
It is important to mention that the camera is available with two types of lenses. In addition to the telezoom version, a standard version with 4x zoom is also available. This one offers an adjustable focal length of 2.8–12 mm and is primarily designed for reading the license plates of nearby vehicles. However, theTCI PS3 C104 IH100 ADM TZ4/LR/WG camera is also capable of bridging greater distances! Its focal length can be adjusted between 8–32 mm, allowing the horizontal viewing angle to narrow down to as little as 16°. With the required 100-pixel license plate width, this means it can recognize license plates from up to 50 meters away. The image sensor size and sensitivity remain the same as the previous model, with the 1/1.8" CMOS sensor maintaining a sensitivity of 0.001 lux.
Although the key hardware components essential for imaging have not changed, the increase in processing speed has resulted in higher operational reliability. Our tests show that the number of successful recognitions has increased both during the day and at night. While license plate recognition when stopping or slowing down in front of a barrier already operated with 100% efficiency, in street and road traffic — especially when multiple license plates appeared simultaneously in the frame — it previously did not always reach 100%. However, with the PS3 C104 camera, it can be stated that if a few license plates are not recognized, it is solely due to incorrect configuration.
Another new feature is that for smaller parking lots and driveways, the camera's own interface offers a simple solution. This is visible under the "Real-time image" tab, alongside the live feed, and can also be accessed in the "Checkpoint" menu in the camera’s settings interface. In addition to maintaining the existing license plate recognition settings and the vehicle database containing the list of authorized vehicles, the "Entrance and Exit" menu also brings a new feature. Here, similar to the function linking seen in recorders, the barrier or garage door can be opened based on the content of the black and white lists. A significant update is that two operational modes have been introduced for the switching process. The previously fixed camera mode can now be switched to a so-called platform mode. In this mode, only the remote SmartCenter or recorder command can open the gate, not the camera itself.
The increased performance is also reflected in the expansion of AI features. In addition to the license plate, the camera also records certain vehicle details, such as the license plate and vehicle color, the shape of the vehicle, and other characteristics. The menu offers options for selecting the specific task for which the camera will be used. If it is for access control and barrier opening, the camera can be connected to a suitable access control system via the Wiegand port, in addition to the previously listed features. This allows the system to require a valid Mifare card for access, alongside the license plate. For those looking for a simpler solution, the traditional mode is also available. However, in this mode, the platform mode, real-time live feed, and interactive access control interface are disabled.
Finally, let's look at the P2P connection. For some time now, the new Techson cameras have become cloud-compatible as a bonus feature. This means, on the one hand, that they can be added to the SuperLive Plus mobile app without a recorder, allowing the camera to be set up without the need for an IP address configuration. With just a QR code, the live feed and footage stored on the SD card can be accessed. Additionally, the gate can be opened remotely if necessary. Furthermore, the camera is already prepared for an upcoming feature, which will allow users to receive the latest firmware with a single click via the cloud.
The Techson PS3 C104 offers efficient solutions for an increasing number of tasks that were previously difficult to accomplish – all you need is a flat wall surface!
